I was simply answering for myself and my own office, not anyone else's. Our supervisors will either instruct carriers to do a fractional portion based on each individual day's overall volume and upcoming sets scheduled for the rest of the week, or tell us to decide how much to do for ourselves in order to have the redplums done by Saturday. With all due respect, they're my management, and I follow their direction.

I honestly can say I don’t know a single person who says they need their Mail everyday. They say it’s mostly garbage anyways and it goes right in the garbage. Even older family members and friends.

Especially this last year with our service being so insanely terrible due to people scamming out of work.

Why not just quit your job then, and find something else? Why would you waste your life doing something you think no one values?

Great spin!! Explain to me why everyone needs junk Mail every day. There is ZERO need for 6 day MAIL delivery. Zero. love my job but I am a realist.

How is that spin? You are constantly posting your opinion that government jobs (and your own job) are worthless.

No one needs junk mail, but I still deliver a lot of first class mail that people need.

If I was doing something I personally enjoyed, but that I felt was worthless to others, I would find another job.

The person paying the postage decides. If those receiving the mail don't want it, the can take their box down.

1. We are paid by the hour, to deliver all the mail.
2. Are you really that lazy?
3. Theoretically, you could get disciplined for doing this (though seems unlikely).
4. The carrier is not a great judge of what the customer would want. Sure, the customer probably doesn't care about that one piece of junk mail. But do you really know?
5. Plus, this could lead to a sort of slippery-slope. Today, you bring back a piece of standard mail. Next week, you're running behind and bring back a piece of first-class that "doesn't look important."
6. If you start doing this regularly, your route will be adjusted accordingly, and it will become impossible to do your job correctly and finish in 8 hours.

Please understand that for the last year and a half every letter carrier, including those not on the overtime list, are doing 10 hr days everyday and we are getting forced in on our days off. The managers are casing routes and delivering the auxiliary route.

The entire justification for accepting some for profit mail at a lower price is that the service claims the right to defer that lower cost product in order to move the 1st class mail, the baby chicks and medications for our veterans to use the 2020 complaints, on time.

That it was used to prevent penalty overtime while simultaneously reporting 1st class mail, they pretended there were no 1st class flats back in the day, just lays bare the claims that it must go. It didn't then when a color coded tag was simply laid on multiple feet of bulk rate and it is not must go today just because it was prepared by a machine instead of being deferred at the case by a man.

That's all true, except you're missing the fact that curtailing mail is a management function. As long as management is instructing you to bring back that piece of junk mail (as seems to be true in your case), everything's hunky dory.
