So, I believe this would be considered a promotion. How much of a salary increase can I expect if I get an offer? Will the initial offer be higher than what I make now? How much room for negotiation is there on a move like this? Thanks in advance. The top of the range doesn't determine if the switch is a promotion. For example, when I was paybanded in DCIPS years ago, I was an IA3. This band ranged from GS11-13 pay wise. IA4 ranged GS13-14 pay wise. IA5 was the same as a GS15. The NH-4 Medium may be a range that is considered "equivalent to a GS14" and so be considered a lateral for pay purposes. (an example going the other direction is TSA...unless you are at the GS15 equivalent, their bands tend to pay lower than the GS equivalent grades. I declined a "GS13 equivalent" promotion from my GG12 position as I would have lost $3k a year in salary by getting promoted! Took a GS13 position with USCG a few weeks later which was a pay increase typically expected when getting promoted). |
