I am supervisor at an Army Reserve Maintenance facility. We provided support for one Reserve unit that has been inactivated. I asked my HR representative if we would receive a RIF notice and/or Proposed Removal/Separation Notice. The HR representative replied "RIF notice and/or Proposed Removal/Separation Notice is not on the table. The agency is reviewing internal vacancies for possible placement."
Should we be offered a RIF in this case?
The agency we work for has no other facilities within 50 miles of our current location so I do not know where they are planning to place us within our agency.
What course of action should be taken?

It's been a while, but I know a lot of people who were affected by BRAC went on PPP.

What course of action should be taken? Is this a civilian job? There are different types of RIFs One is a closure/ move The other is a reorganizational RIF I have bern in both as snampliyee First was a BRAC move Second was at a base. The Amy post 9/11 period increased the military unit jobs on base by nearly double. As a result, civilian support like in base command increased as well proportionally. These were created as required but not authorized. About a decade later the base cut the militaryprescrnse by about 40%. Some of authorized positions were vacant, unauthorized positions were filled. The reorg RIF allowed them to shift people into authorized position then there was a rank replace of people not in authorized positions. Prior to doing this they offered early retirements. Anyone left in this replacement chain were then put in downgraded positions but they also got PPP. The replacement chain was vets over non vets. Some gotposition reclassed into different series. It was possible for an11 to be given a 5 job but still getting 11 pay We have also seen under Trump where they moved usda jobs from dc to kc without congressional approval and didn’t give early retirement options. I’m certain there might be lawsuits on this somewhere. They could move units.
