Under Mission Act the veterans health administration has gone through a required market assessment.
As a result of this there could be things like consolidations or closures or downgrades of the facilities while some might get upgrades or expansion creating jobs elsewhere.
Such a report might get to congress by the end of this calendar year.
VHA will have a commission similar to BRAC that answers to congress and the politics. Job loses woukd be mainly in middle and senior management in the field
What could come of this are two close VAMCs being merged into one. The lower level clinics won’t change but senior staff gets eliminated. Each VAMC has things like chief of Rafiology, primary care, mental health, etc. in margining you had one at each but you only need 1 for both.
