During the TS investigation process and/or after TS clearance is granted, does his/her parent's employment record affect the application and/or standing of the TS?
It is my understanding that the guilty by association aspects of TS process for family/relatives varies. But if a parent has a negative employment record such as "termination", how does that affect the children's TS clearance? Thank you for your answers.

Depends on why they were terminated? Downsized? Not an issue. A cop fired for selling drugs? May be a problem if the applicant has a close and continuing relationship with them. Terminated from Federal service having been found guilty of trying to sell national security secrets to a foreign government? May be a huge issue!

And with all the above, if the only real connection is a Birthday card once a year, and the applicant hasn't seen their parent in person since they were a child and its been 20+ years since they were in the same room...probably less of an issue of anything they have done.

So, it all depends on the why and how close the relationship is.

And I think posting on an open forum asking about TS clearance is grounds to not grant the clearance!
