Hey! If you don’t get it within 4-5 business days of your TO I would recommend reaching out to your HR representative. Also, be sure you’re checking your spam folder as well.

I hadn’t received mine and my HR representative had to forward me the email directly.

If I pass the due date to schedule the prints am I immediately kicked out? Also how long do you have to get them done or does it not matter as long as it’s scheduled?

I was told the dates weren’t set in stone but your HR representative should be able to update the due dates if there are any issues. Just be sure you reach out to them if you don’t see anything to cover all your bases.

HR will not be able to complete preliminary BI without prints. You won’t be able to get a FO without prints to my understanding.

I received my TO on 04/27 and the due date for fingerprinting was 05/04. I did not hear anything, so I emailed the HR Specialist on 05/03. I finally received my email to schedule fingerprinting on 05/04 and the HR Specialist pushed my due date back to 05/11. Just make sure to contact your HR Specialist.

Understand CI wants to onboard people. I know it can feel like the Federal government isn't really trying that hard to hire people or make them feel wanted. That is maybe true in some scenarios but definitely not for CI at this time.

HR is separate and they do what they can but they work for main IRS not just CI. I've had two federal civilian jobs. On a 10 point scale my experience with IRS HR is about an 8 or 9 compared to the other agency I worked for which was maybe a 3. But like most anything federal they are likely stretched and understaffed. They aren't actively looking to weed you out due to missing dates etc. So do what you can to progress things along because that's all you can do. If you miss a date because of a missing email or something, then so be it. Not your fault. Just get things back on track when you can. Little issues like that just slow down your onboarding.

We rarely know what the next FY brings so if you have a TO now you want to do everything you can to move things along and be on boarded before October.

If you think you may have any sort of clearance issue with your medical, get in front of it now and be prepared to have a doctor respond to questions or provide you a reasoned explanation for why whatever the issue is shouldn't be a hindrince to your career.

I received my eqip email before the email to schedule my prints. Does that mean my prints prob carried over from when I was a contractor with DEA?

I have completed everything for onboarding up to this point except the medical, which is scheduled for next week. Does anyone know if the background/tax audit, etc. will take place after receiving a satisfactory result from the medical?

Another question with regards to the background; since we filled out the SF85, would we do the SF86 once hired if we are ever assigned to a task force with other federal agencies?

Anyone have any insight how difficult/easy it is to switch POD’s within the same commuting area?

Tomorrow is the listed due date for me to schedule my finger prints. I have not received an email to schedule them yet. I reached out to my HR specialist on Friday and haven’t heard back yet. Any suggestions?

I had my medical today. It took 1.5 hours. I was a little nervous but I think it went well. Hopefully there’s no issues.

All steps completed/submitted on my end - fingers crossed for minimal medical follow-ups!

In the event that follow-ups are requested, does anyone have any insight into what CHS sends? For example, do they typically send additional forms to complete, or is it a more generalized "please clarify these items" type request? Just want to get ahead of any requests, if possible.

I have medical on 27th and I’m done as well. I’m very impressed how quickly everything went after the TO. Did not expect that at all.

For my LASIK they sent specific forms to have filled out by an eye doctor.

I did my background interview after onboarding. Not sure when my tax audit was done as I never got contacted (only a W-2 earner.)

SF86 will be filled out if there is a need to have TS. Typically that will mean if you are assigned to a task force, but it might depend on if you will even be looking at TS info in that role.

I too finished the medical portion yesterday. Hopefully this part goes fast too for everyone in the event of any follow ups.

Background investigation (not the preliminary check) will occur probably around as you get out of FLETC. Tax audit occurs after FLETC. New agent in my office came in February from FLETC just had theirs.

Yes on the SF86, if you get assigned to a task force or work with another agency, then that'll happen.

That’s crazy if anything comes up they’ll lose there job and have nothing. Not that I have anything in my background but I couldn’t imagine leaving my current job, finishing fletc and then told I now do not have a way to support my family. Seems wrong.

It’s not. Criminal history and preliminary background occur before you start.

After you complete FLETC, then all the info on the SF-85-that you already filled out and should have already disclosed whatever you needed to-is checked.
