Hello, I had a recent suitability denial in December 2021 for a job with a branch inside HHS. I was not informed for the reason(s) for denial and have been waiting on a FOIA request for >2 months. I was offered a new position on Friday with a different branch within HHS. I’m wondering if it’s worth going through with another suitability review so soon after a recent denial even though I don’t know the reasons for denial. Any guidance or thoughts anyone can provide would be appreciated. Thank you and happy Easter.

Why not go through with it, don't take yourself out of the running.
By the way, when did you apply for these jobs? Wondering how long it took to get to the "unsuitability" determination. |

Thanks for your response. To answer your question, I was offered a job in June of last year and filled out a SF-86 in September. I received an email in early December saying I was denied suitability.

If you got a letter informing you that the first offer was withdrawn due to unsuitability, did it mention anything about you could apply again in a year or two years or anything? Some agencies do that. Assuming you applied to the second job before you were found unsuitable for the first, it could lead to the same result.
Or not. Like I say, make them say no. |

Unfortunately, it was a one line email that just said, “Hi, you have been denied suitability for your security clearance.” I followed up with several emails and by the time someone got back to me, it was the same response.

Can you afford an attorney? There are some who specialize in clearances.

Sounds like something in your past got you denied suitability. This was tier 3 investigation for suitability?
