Good day everyone,

I've scoured these forums and have not seen this scenario discussed. I am currently a 15/9 in DC and am awaiting an initial offer from another agency that is pay banded. The position is "technically" a 14-level job for which I am highly (and likely over-) qualified, but the advertised band goes to the top of the pay scale (176,500 on DC).

They are impressed with my credentials, as the SESs mentioned in the second interview. What I'm wondering is what is the likely salary offer I might get? Are they likely to lateral me in at the top, or is there a reasonable possibility they'll offer me a reduced salary more akin to a 14? I've been a 15/9 for a couple years now, and have been at the top of the scale for even longer due to the scale compression re: SES 4 max pay. ANy insight you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated; this will (hopefully) be my first federal job switch after 17 years, so I'm a bit in the dark. Thank you!
