I know the step rule for a promotion from a GS12-a GS13, but if you accept a new lateral position, is there a step promotion? Example, I'm a GS12 step 5 and I accept another GS12 position. Would get a "promotion" to a step 6?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nope. Lateral is a lateral.

Nope. You don’t lose time in making steps.

But…pay attention in making steps.

Right now fir me I’m a step 8 close to my step increase to 9. If I took a promotion now I’d go to a different step than if I wait till after I became a 9.
