I have a question about insurance after aprroval for disability
Disability Retirement
The federal government allows employees who are unable to work to retire under a disability
retirement. It is in the best interest of both employees and the federal government for employees to remain gainfully employed in their current grade or pay level, as long as they can provide useful and efficient service without endangering themselves, others or government property. Disability retirement should be the very last option and should be used only when attempts have been made to preserve an individual's employment, and those attempts have failed.

While I was waiting for a decision on my disability with opm, my insurance was revoked due to not being in a pay status for 1 year. Am I going to be able to get back my health coverage? If so who would you contact about that? Any information anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

If your disability retirement is approved OPM will pick it up from the last day you were in a pay and duty status and they will deduct all health premiums from monies owed to you. How long have you been waiting?

I applied in November and was just approved last week. I have already received an interm payment that stated it was from June 2007 to April 30th 2008. They sent me a paper that said they would send me more papers when my case is finalized. It also stated to continue using your current healthcare coverage. However the post office took it away for being on LWOP for one year. I was paying the money for it myself till they revoked it. Since I was still covered when I first filed, will I be able to get my insurance back? Thanks for the help, I greatly appreciate it.

Yes your health insurance will be reinstated and it was not taken away, any federal employee who has more than one year of lwop, their insurance is cancelled. In your case, it will be reinstated.
