Month 0 - applied online

Month 2 - email from CIA telling me to take online testing on brainbench.com (IQ test and written tests where I would view 3 or 4 reports and prepare 1 page intelligence briefing)

Month 5 - interview at Dulles Discovery CIA building in Chantilly, VA (off Rt. 28, and Air & Space Museum Pkwy)

Month 6 - Conditional Offer of Employment arrives via FedEx

Month 7 - Pre-processing telephone interview to go over my SF86 form & security questions

Month 11 - 3 day processing at Dulles Discovery building. This included medical testing to give blood, urinate in cup, and test for vision and hearing. As well as 2 polygraphs, MMPI-2 psych test, chat with psychologist, office visit.

Month 13 - Rejection letter arrives via FedEx saying I have been "disapproved for classified information" and that details on the disapproval should come soon.

Be prepared to wait, anticipate, then get rejected for no reason.

Sorry to hear it.  I'm not surprised, though. CIA is one of the worst offenders when it comes to bureaucratic absurdity.

my timeline mirrored the one posted above from another poster. Only difference was that my 3 day processing was month 9.

Month 11- Called back for third polygraph.

Month 12- Same as prior poster's rejection. i.e. "disapproved for classified information".

Now I will sit and wait for my "statement of reasons" that's supposed to be provided by security and see if it is worth appealing or not.

Nope; not that I know of. BI's are extremely expensive so I don't think those that get booted due to poly go through BI.

quick question about timeline and a BI.  Mine has been going since January and I haven't heard anything and as far as I know, none of my relatives/neighbors have been interviewed.  Is this "typical"?

I don't see why it wouldn't be typical. A normal CIA BI takes between 9 and 12 months. Since it's only 3, 4 months in, I would not expect to hear anything quite yet. Plus, experience varies by individual.

Got to be a little more patient I guess.  Does anyone know how likely you are to receive a EOD if you got a COE?

WAY more likely than you were prior to the COE.

Think of it this way. Prior to the COE, you were competing against other applicants. Now that you have it, all you have to compete against is yourself. Now it's a 50:50 shot, rather than a 1:1000 shot.

At this point, if you have a clean background and won't panic during a poly, you'll probably get through it fine.

Wait is this for analyst positions? Any info for NCS should not be made public. But yea adjudication should take anywhere from 12-18 months. So have patience.

Does anyone know of any instances in which a BI was done before a polygraph?  according to my personal contact I'm going through the BI, but I still haven't taken a poly.

Bump once.  Still haven't heard anything.  This whole scenario just doesn't make sense.

there are places in the IC that do backgrounds before poly... can't speak to CIA specifically.
